Information leaflets for publishers

The International ISBN Agency has prepared new handouts in English, French and Spanish to be distributed at the ISBN stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2005. These information leaflets are intended for publishers and should also be translated and made available by the national ISBN agencies to their respective customers.

ISBN Users' Manual

The ISBN Users' Manual for the new standard (ISBN-13) that will be used from January 2007 onwards is now available as a pdf document.


8.12.2004:

New agencies for Serbia and Montenegro

As of January 1, 2005, the ISBN responsibility for Serbia will be transferred to the National Library of Serbia and for Montenegro to the Central National Library of Montenegro.

The International ISBN Agency at the Frankfurt Book Fair

Owing to the kind support of the German ISBN Agency, situated at the German Booksellers' Association MVB (Marketing- und Verlagsservice des Buchhandels GmbH), the International ISBN Agency will for the first time be represented at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

We will mostly supply information about the forthcoming changes due to the ISBN standard revision (ISBN-13).

Please visit us from October 6-8, 2004 at stand G1349 in Hall 4.0.


13.07.2004:

As of July 1, 2004 the French speaking Swiss publishers will receive their ISBNs from the Swiss ISBN Agency situated at the Schweizer Buchhändler- und Verleger-Verband. From now on, AFNIL, the French ISBN agency, will no longer be responsible for these publishers.

The 32nd ISBN Panel Meeting will take place in Berlin on November 4-5, 2004. Participants may register any time from now on.

The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is based on an ISO International Standard that was first published in 1972 as ISO 2108.
ISO 2108 specifies the basic structure of an ISBN, the rules for its allocation, and the administration of the ISBN system.
