1. Use the drop down to select between ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 calculation (hint - in most cases this will be ISBN-13 as ISBN-10 is the legacy system). If you select ISBN-13, you will also need to select the correct 3 digit EAN prefix (all available EAN prefixes are included in the list).
2. Next enter the registration group, registrant and publication elements (in total you will then have entered 12 digits).
3. Click test to generate the first number. You can then generate multiple numbers of ISBNs within the same registrant element - in batches of 10, 50, 100 etc depending on the number of available ISBNs. Hint - if the registrant prefix element permits 10 ISBNs, the converter will only generate a maximum of 10 ISBNs. Similarly, if the registrant prefix element permits 100 ISBNs, then a maximum of 100 ISBNs will be generated.
4. If all available ISBNs have been assigned to publications already, contact the applicable ISBN Agency for a fresh allocation of ISBNs. There is a choice of output formats in which the generated ISBNs can be displayed.
