2017 Annual General Meeting takes place in Canada

The ISBN community has just returned from a successful and enjoyable meeting in Ottawa, Canada. The meeting, which formed the 2017 AGM of the International ISBN Agency, was kindly hosted by Library and Archives Canada and both their Ottawa and Gatineau premises served as venues for the meeting. Library and Archives Canada runs the Canada - English Language ISBN Agency. We would like to pay special thanks to Library and Archives Canada for their hard work and organisation, which contributed a great deal to the success of the meeting.

Well over 50 delegates were present for the meeting, which featured topics such as the latest ISBN developments, the revision of the ISBN standard, and a great talk by Noah Genner on the Canadian book market, as well as the formal part of the AGM.

We would like to thank the representatives of the International ISMN Agency for their help in the arrangements for the meeting. For several years the AGMs of the International Agencies for the ISBN and ISMN standards have been held in collaboration with one another, an arrangement which we feel serves delegates well. We would also like to thank Gaëlle Béquet of the International ISSN Centre, who provided an excellent update on the International Standard Serial Number.

The community also had the opportunity to look around the wonderful Gatineau Preservation Centre, a purpose built facility for storage of important treasures of Canada's heritage.
