The 2014 ISBN Annual General Meeting

In September the ISBN community took part in a wonderful Annual General Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey. Our colleagues at the Ministry for Culture and Tourism of Turkey did a fabulous job as hosts and the venue at Istanbul Commerce University was a welcoming and suitable meeting space.

The 2014 meeting was a particularly special event for several reasons. It was the first AGM which was held in collaboration with the governing authorities of both the ISMN standard, for identifying notated music, and the ISSN standard, for identifying serials. We give our thanks to the International ISMN Agency and the ISSN International Centre for their help in the arrangements for the meeting.

The 2014 meeting was also special because this year has been a very important one for the ISBN standard. We have completed the renewal of our website and the database that supports it; and we have begun a revision of the ISO standard.

The meeting's delegates included representatives from over 50 different national ISBN agencies as well as from the Turkish Publishers' Association.
