Easily recognisable as the identifier for all kinds of books, the International Standard Book Number is key to an efficient and effective book supply chain.

The International ISBN Agency is the registration authority for the Standard on a global basis.

    The first two regional ISBN meetings of 2019 have taken place. A regional meeting is a meeting of representatives of national ISBN agencies who share a common geography, language or market and it provides a useful opportunity for agencies to discuss issues affecting a specific area.

    First up, in May 2019, the meeting of the Nordic-Baltic agencies was held. The venue was the National Library of Estonia in Tallinn, kindly hosted by the Estonian ISBN Agency.     The National Book Chamber of the Republic of Moldova (NBCRM) recently organised a conference of the editors/representatives of the editorial system of the Republic of Moldova. This event was held on 18 April 2019 and took place the headquarters of the "Andrei Lupan" Scientific Library (Institute).
